“Troubled Youth Finds Light”
Kenneth excelled in High School as Student Body President his Freshman Year and a Student-Athlete. He was recognized as a Who’s Who student for his academic achievements in US History by the recommendation of his History teacher, Charlie Aboiurjilie. In the summer of 1994, weeks from the start of his senior year in High School, his friend Craig Cole was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Kenneth’s senior year would be his worst socially and academically. He was expelled and arrested weeks away from graduation and would become a father in short order. He had a praying mother and Principal who, despite his recent fallouts, knew his character and allowed him to graduate on time. Two weeks following his High School graduation, his first daughter was born. It was then that Kenneth had to decide to either stay and father his daughter or attend college. He became a father and worked 16 hours a day to provide for his family. Within one year, he had his own storefront Kirby Vacuum Shop in Reidsville, North Carolina.
“Entrepreneur Flare”
In April of 1996, Kenneth walked in the Kirby Distributorship of Roger and Carl Roberts. Having no previous sales experience, within 13 months, Kenneth had earned his own Kirby Area Distributorship in Reidsville, North Carolina. His Kirby career expanded across a decade. He won over 30 trips and many Kirby accolades. Kenneth’s years spent door-knocking taught him how to connect with the spirit of his fellow man. It taught him how to listen to their needs and find practical solutions for his customers. Kirby gave Kenneth an opportunity, and he took advantage of it. (What opportunity?). The first time Kenneth flew on an airplane, cruised on a ship, and stayed in a 5-star hotel resulted from knocking on doors and selling vacuums door-to-door to North Carolinians.
Kenneth Business Growth”
After mastering a successful salesman’s skills, Kenneth decided to pursue different routes in the sales industry. He began to work in Manufactured Housing and then became a Housing Consultant for Fleetwood, Ted Parker, and Tucker Homes. He went on to sell double wide and single wide houses to hard-working North Carolinians all over the state. Kenneth tried his hand in the Automotive Industry and became a top Sales Consultant with Saturn, Saab, and Hummer. In six months, he was recognized as employee of the month by the General Manager. Following over a decade of chasing his dreams for his family, he felt a void in his life and began searching for the next step on his journey.
“Financial Trouble Knocking”
Kenneth felt frustration in his life due to not having a college degree and his blemished record. Several opportunities evaded him. He was also struggling with understanding the tax code. He earned significant money in KIRBY. However, he had very little to show for it. Kenneth had a wife and three daughters. He did not possess life insurance, a will, or investments. Comprehending how the financial system truly worked was tenuous, at best. Then one day, he made an appointment with a Primerica Insurance Agent. After explaining his financial situation and tax problems to the agent, the agent introduced him to a tax professional. Kenneth informed the tax professional of an IRS debt of $8000. The tax professional helped Kenneth understand how to do all of the correct calculations. To his surprise, Kenneth learned he did not owe the IRS $8000 but that the IRS owed him $10,000. This moment changed Kenneth’s life. Shortly after this, he decided he wanted to be an Ambassador for Financial Literacy to prevent what happened to him from happening to many others. He became an Insurance agent and started protecting families and teaching them financial concepts.
Family History (his point of bittersweetness)
In 1997, Kenneth redirected his life to Christ and married his first wife, the mother of three of his daughters. It was a marriage filled with happiness yet highly challenging circumstances. Following nineteen years of marriage, they decided to divorce. Shortly after his divorce, Kenenth met his second wife. They discovered they were better friends than they were husband and wife, and after 18 short months got a divorce. Kenenth packed his bags and headed south to Lawrenceville, Georgia. At this point, Kenenth felt like a moral failure to his children, parents, and himself. Sometime later, he was riding down the street in Georgia, and Kenneth felt the presence of the Lord instructing him to go to Haverty’s Furniture store. Initially, he protested as he did not have money to buy furniture. However, this impression persisted. He heard the voice say to him, “Be nice.” As Kenneth walked into the store, a Sales Consultant named Sarah greeted him, and he was immediately head over heels for her. The next day they went on a six-hour date and a year later got married. Sarah has one daughter. They currently have a blended family of four young women and are welcoming their first grandchild. With such dynamic family history, Kenneth truly understands what it means to experience God’s grace.
